On
Saturday, Nov 10th, hundreds
of athletes and spectators - men, women and children - descended
upon Bonney Lake to take part in The Revolution 11.10.07,
an extremely well-run Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Submission Grappling tournament that is certainly growing in popularity. Liberty Events and Promotions, ably run by the dynamic duo of Jeff and Gina Bourgeois, held their inaugural event just over a year ago with The Revolution 11.04.06, followed up with 2
more tournaments this year
with
The
Revolution 03.10.07
and The
Revolution 07.14.07.
Jeff,
Gina and the Liberty crew certainly stepped it up in their latest event
which saw more competitors than ever. 5 divisions of kids,
ranging from 6 to 16 started out the day competing in in BJJ and
wearing the traditional Gi. The adults followed with 1 Woman's
White Belt division, 6 separate weight classes in Men's White
Belts, 4 in Men's Blue Belt, and an open Absolute division for the White, Blue, Brown, and Purple Belts. With matches being
run on 4 full-sized wrestling mats throughout the day, there was
action everywhere you turned. By mid-afternoon, many of the
competitors shed their Gi's and were joined by many more
athletes who came solely to engage in the No-GI Submission
Grappling. 8 weight classes for the beginners, 5 for the
Intermediates, and an Advanced Absolute division. By 6 PM, the
last of the of the days matches was completed and all
the awards were handed out, signaling the close to another great
tournament.
Liberty Events and Promotions, LLC
hold their next event, The Revolution 02.09.08 on Saturday Feb
9th at a venue to be announced in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
On
May 3rd, the company teams up with the Submission League based
out of Portland, to put on one of the 3 qualifiers for the 2008
SubLeague. Be sure to visit the
