Elite Fighting Championship 2 - The Ultimate Decision September 29th, 2006 The PNE Agrodome - Vancouver, British Columbia Report and Photos by Mike Renouard With fourteen well-matched bouts that took over five hours to complete, the 2nd Elite Fighting Championship was definitely an MMA bonanza that saw the fans getting their money's worth. The Elite Fighting Federation put together an amazing show that was further enhanced by the production crew and equipment of Elite FC sponsor's, BodogFIGHT. (Editor's Note: Check our On the Record section for details of BodogFIGHT's weekly MMA reality series). All of the combatants, representing some of the best fight teams from BC, Alberta, and beyond, entered the ring and gave it their all which provided for a highly entertaining evening of full contact mayhem!
Elite FC Light Heavyweight Belt holder, Marvin "The Beastman" Eastman was originally scheduled to defend his title against veteran, Vernon "Tiger" White, but due to a hand injury not healing in time, he had to pull out of the fight. Marvin was ringside, however, watching all of the bouts and he witnessed his replacement, Victor "The Matrix" Valimaki, come in on short notice to out punch, out wrestle, and outlast White to claim the victory. Valimaki, who just picked up the Maximum Fighting Championship's Light Heavyweight Title on Sept 8th in Edmonton, is now in line to fight Eastman for the Elite FC belt.
Other action included the Elite FC Lightweight title bout which featured two fighters who both won title belts in their last fights. Blake "The Snake" Fredrickson (X-Fighting Championship's Lightweight belt winner in May) went against "Curious" George Kassimatis (North American Challenge's Welterweight title holder). "The Snake" lived up to his nickname by pulling an armbar from his back on Kassimatis towards the end of Round one. Be on the lookout for more from both of these exciting fighters.
