presented "House of Chaos"
from the Salem Fairgrounds October 15th and the very first fight out the gate set the pace for an action-packed evening when
125 lb Dog Pound MMA fighter Jesse Lane took out Team Chaos fighter Adam King with a big knee
at 29 seconds into the second round. Lane said after that it was
the first time he ever threw a knee in a fight and it netted him his first
win by TKO in a fight.
The main event saw Alive MMA fighter Sean Baker wrestle his way to
the 170 lb UCS title over Tony Buffa from KutThroat Committee. It
was not the most exciting of bouts with not many punches thrown
and complete control by Baker who won by Unanimous Decision after
5 rounds.
The co-main event for the 145 lb belt saw some deadly punches being thrown by both Jess Moore from Universal Jiu-Jitsu & Kasey Ladour from Art of
War as both fighters attempted to knock each other's heads off in the first. Ladour landed some stiff kicks and dealt well with Moore's ground
assault in the round. But in the 2nd, Moore took his back and started a huge attack of punches after leaching himself
onto Ladour. Ladour finally tapped to a Rear Naked choke at 2:53
of the second round and Jess Moore became the new UCS Featherweight Champion!
Spaniard's pick for Fight of The Night went to the Bantamweight title bout
between Team Chaos fighter Joe Zambrano & Art of War fighter Chris
San Jose. This bout is why fight fans go to see MMA for. Sure, you can watch MMA on
TV. But until you watch it live and see a complete battle like this,
with both fighters giving it their complete 125%, YOU HAVEN'T SEEN NOTHING!
The bout went the distance with the crowd going crazy at each
punch landed. The fourth round was the best as both fighters laid it on the line, going
toe to toe and blow for blow, punching and kicking till finally
they had to be held up by their respective corners after the round
ended. The fighters won "Fight of The Night" honors from UCS in this amazing display of MMA
brilliance and in the end it was San Jose who took home the 135lb championship UCS title
with the judges scoring it unanimously 48-47 on all cards.
Team Evergreen's Cory VomBaur, a former University of Wyoming wrestler, is asking anyone with kickboxing skills or Jiu-Jitsu skills to come into his facility and teach
his squad in return for Team Evergreen teaching that person
wrestling. Yet it seems he needed no instruction on submissions after defeating
Team Chaos Jiu-Jitsu ace and former challenger to the 135 title, Vince Barner. VomBauer was just way too much for Barner, landing huge punches on the ground and eventually sinking a RNC
at 59 seconds of the second round.
Another amazing fight came from Team Chaos' Chuy Lopez & Art of
War's Graham Nelson. This was a close one with both fighters turning the tide just when
it seemed the other was getting the upper hand. In the end it went
the distance and Graham was handed the win via a razor close split decision.
I would have hated to be a judge for this fight but was happy to watch it live as it was a
super battle between two great NW amateurs from two tough NW
teams.
United Combat Sports is headed next to the Spirit Mountain Casino
