Lemoore,
CA - The Tachi Palace Casino & Resort played host to another great outdoor MMA event that had everything from Tap-outs & Knock-outs, to hard fought decisions and even a draw. The main event was everything it was hyped to be and more as TUF 11 contestant Kyacey
"Ice Cold" Uscola made a huge statement finishing Doug "Rhino" Marshall in the first round by
a vicious ground and pound KO. A new TPF Middleweight
Champ was crowned in Leopoldo Serao after battling 5 long rounds with American Kickboxing Academy fighter Anthony Ruiz. And former WEC Lightweight champion
"Razor" Rob McCullough defeated former UFC fighter and TUF contestant Corey Hill by unanimous decision.
Before their main event fight, Team Alpha Male fighter Kyacey Uscola predicted his fight with Doug Marshall would end in
KO and if this was Vegas he would have broke the bank. Both fighters came out throwing everything with bad
intentions and it was a double leg takedown that Uscola
timed perfectly that changed the fight. Uscola got
Marshall's back in a scramble after Rhino went for an
Armbar attempt. He then flattened him out and started firing sledgehammers down onto Marshall
that put the Rhino to sleep at 3:17 in first round.
AKA fighter Anthony "A-Train" Ruiz took on BJJ black belt Leopoldo Serao
for the TPF Middleweight Title. The fight went the distance and saw most of the first three rounds
close to the same. Serao avoided Ruiz's Stand up, getting the takedown and controlling the ground game. However, it was Ruiz who started to pick up the pace and steal rounds by getting the better of the stand up and even scoring a couple of slick reversals. Ruiz ended up pounding away in the 5th
round but it wasn't enough to sway the judges who scored the fight 48-47 Serao, 48-46 Serao, and the final judge seeing it 48-46 for A-Train giving the split decision to the new TPF Middleweight Champ Leopoldo
Serao.
Former WEC Champ "Razor" Rob McCullough & former UFC fighter Corey Hill battled it out for 3 full rounds, almost all
of it on their feet. Razor Rob's stand up was the difference in this
fight. As Hill tried using his reach to jab and in and out switching stances, Rob would make him pay by eating a inside or outside leg kick then fire off a punch combo that got more accurate as the fight came to a close. Corey scored points off takedowns but
couldn't capitalize. After 3 rounds of action the Judges scored it a Unanimous Decision for McCullough 30-27, 29-28 & 29-28.
Knock-out of the Night honors goes to two fighters, Andrew Martinez & Darrell Montague both scoring
KO's in the opening round. Martinez, brother of former PFC Champ Poppies Martinez, landed an overhand right on Alpha Male fighter Mark Matthews and the ref stepped in and stopped it at 2:41. Montague actually made Luis Gonzalez tap to a Heel-Hook, but the referee
didn't call the fight. That didn't matter though because Montague decided to finish the fight by highlight reel finish anyway
with the KO at 4:42 in the first.
Former TUF contestant and fellow cast member with Kyacey Uscola, Joseph
"Leonidas" Henle took on a tough and game Collin Hart all the way to the
end. Unfortunately, due to a point deduction the fight was ruled a Unanimous Draw.
Henle got takedowns in the first but was reversed and gave up his back to end the
round. In the second, Henle went for a takedown after landing a big right hand and
got stuffed. Hart got a takedown and is punching away but not enough for ref who
stood them up. Shortly after is the cup check incident
where Hart fires off an inside leg kick that misses and hit directly on the mommy-daddy
button. The referee decided it was a bad enough foul to take a point right
away without any warning. The third and final round saw Henle get a takedown and both fighters landed some punches in pocket, but it was Hart who again took
Henle's back and was looking to end the fight by Rear Naked Choke as the round ended. Hart
likely would have had the win if not for the point
deduction.
Micah Miller & Diego Saraiva battled it out for 3 long
rounds. Miller used his reach with pawing jabs and 1, 2's combos to keep the pressure on Diego. Miller
wasn't doing a lot of damage with his punches which allowed Diego to take a ton of them and still stay in the fight.
But although Diego ate everything Miller had, he couldn't
get inside Miller's reach to damage. He continually tried to get
it to the ground but Miller kept stuffing him. In the end the judges awarded the unanimous decision to Micah Miller.
In the only female bout of the night Paulina Ramirez defeated Stephanie Frausto by
a razor-close split decision. Both ladies were trading kicks and punches with stunning accuracy, yet it was Paulina who was getting Frausto to battle it out in pocket and
that's where Paulina was scoring points. Frausto seemed to be a little gun shy, and the three minute rounds just absolutely
didn't do these girls justice. The California Athletic Commission
made the fight 3x3 minute rounds because Paulina only had 1 pro fight, stating even if it was a guy they would do the same. Which
begs the question, what is the amateur division for?
And "best scream after a win award" goes to a bloodied Art Beccera who came back from a tough onslaught of punches and submission attempts from fighter Gabriel Solorio. Beccera stayed in the fight and caught Solorio in the second round with a Rear Naked Choke @ 3:22.
