Sterling
Ford & Charles Bennett square off at the June 3rd
weigh-ins
One
of the Northwest's top lightweight prospects, Sterling Ford (9-4), takes on
MMA veteran Charles "Kid Kaos" Bennett (22-16-2), better known as
"Krazy Horse", at the Action Fight League's Rock-n-Rumble
3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Florida, June 4th.
The fight will be for the ISKA World Lightweight title.
Sterling
Ford trains out of Yelm, WA's Victory Athletics under
Dennis Hallman and is coming off a 1st round submission
victory over Chris Ensley in a 170 lb fight May 15th at
CageSport MMA in Tacoma.
Charles
Bennett is a veteran fighter of King of the Cage, Pride,
Elite XC, ShoXC, and Strikeforce, and has fights against Duane
Ludwig, Takanori Gomi, Urijah Faber, Tatsuya Kawajiri and Jeff Curran,
with notable wins over former EliteXC Lightweight Champion KJ
Noons, UFC veteran Gerald Strebendt and WEC Bantamweight contender Yoshiro Maeda.
Bennett was scheduled to rematch KJ Noons on the June 16th Strikeforce
show in LA, but it was announced yesterday that he is off
that card and Noons is now scheduled to fight IFL and EliteXC veteran Conor
Heun.
Bennett is known for taunting opponents and charismatic gestures in and outside the
cage. The Florida born fighter is also well known for his run- ins with the law and his long string of
arrests, having been arrested more than 20 times since
1997 for such crimes as possession and sale of cocaine, domestic
violence, assault and false imprisonment to name a few.
Both
fighters made weight for tonight's contest, Ford coming in
at 155 1/4 lbs while Bennett weighed in at 154 1/2 lbs.
