Daniel "The Haitian Sensation" Edouard battles Dewey Welliver

in the "Perfect Storm"

Press Release from Spirit Mountain Casino

Grand Ronde, OR - Roy Jones, Jr. and Square Ring, Inc. return to Spirit Mountain Casino to present the "Perfect Storm," a seven-fight boxing event featuring Dewey Welliver (18-18-1, 6 KOs), of Spokane, WA taking on the hard hitting Daniel "The Haitian Sensation" Edouard (21-2-2, 12 KOs), of West Palm Beach, FL in a 10-round middleweight attraction.

Tickets for the June 12th boxing event at the Spirit Mountain Casino Event Center are on sale now for $25, $35, $50, $75 and $100. Tickets can be purchased online at
www.starticketsplus.com or by calling (800) 585-3737. Seats can also be purchased at the casino Coyote Club desk and at www.spiritmountain.com . Doors open at 7 p.m. with the first bout scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

Welliver, who turns 27 years-old the day of the fight, is entering the ring with a new strategy. In the past, he made many costly decisions to accept last minute fights and didn't allow time for proper training. This approach produced just as many losses as wins and nearly cost him his career.

Welliver is prepared to enter the ring this time. He hopes to put those decisions behind him and begin repairing his record with his biggest fight to date against Edouard.

"I've sparred with De La Hoya and Mayweather and held my own. I know I can compete at a high level and I've had plenty of notice for this fight," said Welliver. "I'm a true fighter. I box because I love the sport - I love the challenge."

Edouard, 28, has stormed the middleweight division and says he is ready for a title shot as soon as one is available. Last December, he declared himself a middleweight contender by knocking out Eduardo De La Cruz in the first round to win the World Boxing Association (WBA) Federation Championship in Panama. That win earned Edouard a No. 9 rating in the WBA, as well as a No. 14 spot in the World Boxing Council.

"I feel I am at my peak right now and I'm fighting in my correct weight division," said Edouard. "After my fight (at Spirit Mountain Casino) I want a world title. Maybe I should send Felix Sturm (WBA World Champion) an e-mail."

Other "Perfect Storm"
bouts on the card include Rayco "War" Saunders (6-11-2, 7 KOs), former NABA Cruiserweight champion of Pittsburgh, taking on Roger "Never Can Tell" Cantrell (14-1, 8 KOs), of Seattle in a six-round light heavyweight attraction. NABA champion, Verquan "The Show" Kimbrough (20-1-2, 7 KOs), of Pittsburgh, PA is scheduled to go head-to-head with Justo Sanchez (17, 22, 1), of Howell, UT in an eight-round lightweight bout. Salem's own Marco Cardenas (0-1) takes on Manuel Ortega (1-0), of Seattle in a four-round featherweight attraction. Also from Seattle, Dashon "Fly Boy" Johnson (6-2-2, 1 KO) battles former NABF champion Jason Papillion (31-13-1, 25 KOs), of Broussard, LA in a six-round junior middleweight attraction. And Portland's own David Quartz makes his pro debut with Ronald Briggs of Vancouver, also making a pro debut, in this 4-round middleweight attraction.
