COGA Combat Games presented their 26th Rumble on the Ridge November 3rd with a full lineup of NW amateurs and pros throwing down for a packed house in the Snoqualmie Casino Ballroom. The event streamed live over at FightFlixx.com with the action being called by UFC Fighter Mike Chiesa and Seattle-area radio legend, Jeff "The Fish" Aaron.

The main event was a Pro Welterweight machup between Sikjitsu's Jerome Jones who entered on a five fight win streak and Josh "Earmuffs" Calvo (repping Foster BJJ/Combat Sport & Fitness) who was looking to rebound from a tough decision loss earlier this year to Frank Ramsey in the main event of Rumble on the Ridge 22. In the first round, the pair exchanged punches and kicks for the first couple minutes before Calvo got a takedown and got top position on Jones against the cage. From there to the end of the round, Calvo went to work maintaining top position while throwing elbows and punches where he could.

In the 2nd and 3rd rounds, Calvo quickly got takedowns and again rode them out through each of the five minute rounds, maintaining position and control on the mat while punishing Jones. In the end, it went to the judges who called it unanimously for Calvo 30-27 x 2, 30-26.

The Co-main Event featured a pro Heavyweight matchup with Anthony "The Freight Train" Hamilton repping Greg Jackson's MMA and Hamilton Grappling Systems going up against NW Elite's Mike "Reborn" Riddell who came in at 1-1. Hamilton entered the bout at 6-2 but coming off two straight defeats, his last a 1st round submission loss to UFC veteran Fabiano Scherner in August. He turned that around quick in this fight, blasting Riddell with a big right hand and following up with a couple more bombs on the ground for the KO of the Night at just 7 seconds in.

After the KO, a couple scary minutes as the medical staff and EMT's attended to a twitching Riddell. Fortunately, he finally came to and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Riddell was checked out OK and showed his humorous side by posting a picture of his blackened eye on his facebook page with the caption "Soooo you wanna be a fighter?"

The submission of the night came in a 135 lb pro fight between Bad Company MMA's Jeff "TNT" Hatton (7-1) and NW Elite's Tony "Tick-Tock" Sanchez (2-0). Hatton came out and closed the distance quick on Sanchez, getting him against the cage and getting the eventual takedown. Sanchez though went for the submission finish from bottom, going first for a guillotine and then a tight armbar and then a triangle with Hatton shucking off each. Hatton then laid a barrage of punches down on Sanchez that had him in trouble but Sanchez was able to defend with a submission attempt again. This time Hatton took mount, landing more power punches, transitioning to Sanchez' back where the threw a few more punches ending the round.

In the 2nd, Hatton shot a single leg that saw Sanchez land in a fairly advantageous position. Hatton struggled to finish the takedown and it was then Sanchez went for a Peruvian Necktie, then transitioned to a Triangle/Armbar finish which he locked in for a tap from Hatton at 1:42 of Rd 2.

Justin Harrington out of Combat Sport & Fitness moved to 3-0 with a 1st round Rear Naked Choke of SOBMMA's Adam Smith in a pro Lightweight contest. Harrington shot first for a takedown that Smith countered with one of his own. Harrington got it to the feet where again he shot for a takedown and in the ensuing scramble Smith ate a couple big punches and a knee before Harrington got it to the ground.

On the mat, Harrington worked the ground and pound, landing a number of elbows that found their mark. Harrington stood up to land punches to the body which allowed Smith to his feet. Against the cage, Smith jumped guard to go for the guillotine but Harrington easily escaped where he worked more ground and pound, before taking Smith's back and sinking the Rear Naked Choke at 4:36 of Rd 1.

There was one title fight in the night's action, with Twisted Genetiks' Chase Cowin outworking a tough Pete Nicacio over five rounds for the unanimous decision win and the COGA FC Amateur 135 lb Title.
