Rumble on the Ridge XVI - January 15th, 2011

Punch Drunk Promotion's first fight event of the year, Rumble on the Ridge XVI, excelled in high style with 6 professional and 4 amateur MMA contests that provided plenty of action for the fight hungry crowd. In the main event, Mike Hayes won the Punch Drunk Heavyweight Title via a 3rd Rd Rear Naked Choke of Matt Kovacs. Will Hammond dug deep to deliver a TKO victory in the 2nd round over Nick Braker in the evening's other pro heavyweight matchup. Jeff Hougland looked sharp in his defeat of Omar Avelar via RNC in a Pro 135 lb contest, as did Dex Montenegro winning the same way over Trevor Sojot at 145 lbs. Sam Sicilia wasted not his opportunity getting Jason Gybles in a bad position and raining down strikes to gain a 1st rd TKO. Jacob Boysen and Kasey White had an entertaining 145 pro fight that went to the judges and awarded to Boysen. On the amateur side of things, Frankie Orr and Josh Callis battled it out for two rounds, before Orr took over in the 3rd and TKO'd Callis for the Punch Drunk 205 lb Amateur title.
