On
Aug 27th, COGA MMA & the Snoqualmie Casino presented the 19th
Rumble on the Ridge in a special outdoor event on a picture
perfect summer day. Christopher "Big Black" Boykin, star
from MTV's Rob & Big reality series, was on hand to meet and
greet the crowd, as were a number of the Seattle Mist Lingerie
Football players. Strikeforce fighter Lyle "Fancy Pants"
Beerbohm was also cageside acting as commentator alongside Jeff
"The Fish" Aaron for the broadcast on Root Sports.
The
main event featured a 170 lb Pro bout between Josh "Killa"
Calvo, representing Combat Sports and Fitness, and the Twin
Dragons' Justin "The Psycho" Larsson. The fight started
out in the middle with a quick exchange, Larsson got the takedown
and landed in Calvo's guard and from there Calvo went to work,
securing an inverted arm/triangle choke at just 34 seconds into
the first round.
The
Co-main event was a Pro Heavyweight matchup between rising star
Anthony "The Freight Train" Hamilton, repping Jackson's
MMA & Foster BJJ, and veteran fighter Josh "The Good Ol
Boy" Bennett out of Team Quest. This was a fight in which
Bennett never was able to mount any offense as Hamilton repeatedly
pushed Bennett into the cage, upended him, and proceeded to maul
him against the cage. 3 and 1/2 minutes into the final round
Hamilton pushed it up a notch and by then the referee had seen
enough and stopped the contest.
One
title fight was held for the amateur 155 lb belt and it was won by
Combat Sports and Fitness' Justin Harrington who locked on a first
round armbar of Rough House Renton's Lonya Champion. Harrington
had his way throughout the fight, setting up the submission with a
big takedown.
Rumble
on the Ridge XX will be Saturday October 15th at the Snoqualmie
