Joe
DeRobbio's Punch Drunk Promotions did it again with another
incredible Rumble on the Ridge show July 10th at the outdoors Mountain View
Plaza at the Snoqualmie Casino. This all-day event featured
plenty of fight action from the 4 pro and 9 amateur fights, as
well as live music from the Po'okela
Street Band,
the Cyclepaths Custom Chopper exhibit, a rockin' beer garden,
plenty of food and vendors, plus a bevy of beautiful women
representing the Seattle Mist Lingerie Football team, the
International Bikini Team, and of course the Punch Drunk Ring
Girls.
\
Former
UFC Lightweight champ, Jens Pulver was also in the house providing
commentary for the MMA Sports Network and going head-to-head
against many a fan at the MMA video game tourney.
The Pro Main Event featured Ultimate Fighter Season 10 alumni, Demico Rogers,
taking on Eli Harris in a heavyweight showdown. This was a typical
Demico Rogers affair with Demico controlling throughout and ending
it in brutal fashion in the 1st Rd.
In
the co-main event, Pro fighter, Josh "Killa" Calvo out
of Foster BJJ and Combat Sports & Fitness, beat White Buffalo
Warriors' Taylor Roberts with an Armbar in the 1st round. Calvo
set up the sub with some brutal striking and definitely is a
fighter with a bright future ahead of him.
There
were two additional pro fights on the card. Calvo's
teammate, Jeff Hougland took out a tough Roy Bradshaw by laying
down the ground and pound, taking his back, flattening him out and
getting the Rear Naked in the first round.
Roughhouse
MMA's Dustin Praxedes
ran in to controversy for the 2nd time is as many fights when
"Nasty" Nate Becker of Mid-Valley MMA had him in an
armbar attempt and the referee stopped the contest. Praxedes
protested the stoppage but unfortunately for him, the fight went
into the books.
9
more fights rounded out the undercard and there was some great
action there. Antonio Avalos, Dex Montenegro, Rick Cummins, & Mike Savage outpointed their opponents in fights that went the distance. CJ Marsh, Carl Edwards, and Tammy Johnson all had first round finishes, while Ivan Edelsman was taken into the 2nd before pounding his opponent into submission. The first fight of the day unfortunately was not completed as the mat was so hot from the burning sun, that both fighters had their feet burned and had to be carried from the ring.
Rumble
on the Ridge XII "Inferno" is scheduled for Sat, August
21st and is set to be another great outdoor event at the Mountain
View Plaza starting from 2 PM.
