Jared Torgeson beats Tony Lopez in the Rumble on the Ridge 33 main event
Combat Games MMA returned to the Snoqualmie Casino October 16th 2015, presenting Rumble on the Ridge 33 which saw it all in terms of combat action: from thundering KOs to wicked submissions to knockdown, dragout 3-round wars. 9 fights in total were held: 6 pro and 2 amateur MMA bouts, plus a female kickboxing matchup. Special guest in the house was UFC Heavyweight Anthony "Freight Train" Hamilton, pictured below with ring announcer Christopher Cope.
The main event featured a 210 lb catchweight bout between two tough warriors with nearly 90 pro bouts between them. Huntington Beach CA's Tony "Kryptonite" Lopez and NW fighter Jared Torgeson threw down for three solid rounds in the fight of the night. After 15 minutes of action, Torgeson was awarded a split decision victory 29-28, 29-28, 28-29.
The pro lightweight bout between Rob Cann (5-5) and Nathan Thompson's (3-1) was moved to the co-main event slot late, and both Cann and Thompson lived up to the billing by putting in crowd-pleasing performances. After three hard fought rounds, Rob Cann was declared the winner unanimously with scores of 29-28 across the board.
Enumclaw WA’s Jason Gray got back in the win column utilizing numerous takedowns and ground control to garner a unanimous decision over Albuquerque NM fighter Ran Weathers 30-27, 30-26, 30-26. Gray is now 5-2 as pro while Weathers falls to 18-21.
In a pro 165 lb contest, Fernando Heredia of Ground Game MMA moved to 2-0 as a pro by submitting Warrior Fight Camp’s Jake Jokella with an armbar at just 18 seconds in.
Impact Jiu-jitsu’s Bryan Nuro looked impressive in moving to 3-0 as a pro via a 2nd round submission of debuting JD Burns in a lightweight contest. The end came with Nuro dropping in some big strikes on a grounded Burns before getting a Kimura finish at 3:12 of the 2nd.
In a pro 140 lb catchweight bout, Singha MMA’s Paul Njoku scored a quick TKO win over Indepedent fighter Shane Sargent at 47 seconds into their fight. Njoku moves to 6-2 as pro with the victory.
The lesson learned from the female 145 lb bout between Impact Jiu-jitsu’s Anna Dempster and White Buffalo Warriors’ Kendra Bukovac, was that Dempster hits awfully hard and that Bukovac is hard to put away. The fight went the distance and all three judges saw it 30-26 for Dempster whose power and striking accuracy won her the day.
Team Hard Knox fighter Sarah Bucher and Battleground MMA’s Skylar Thomas engaged in a spirited amateur 150 lb kickboxing fight that went the distance. After the 3 rounds of action, Bucher was awarded the win via split decision, 29-28 x2, 28-29.
Opening the fights, White Buffalo Warriors’ Aaron Ibanez earned a well-deserved unanimous decision over Alex Alvarez in an amateur 190 lb catchweight bout.
