Egli and Converse Look to Defend Titles on Saturday, September 24th
On Saturday, September 24th the Full Contact Fighting Federation is back in Portland, Oregon to host the 59th installment of Rumble @ The Roseland. The Main event brings FCFF Welterweight Champion Ben Egli from Corvallis, Oregon to the Roseland Theater in attempts to defend his Title. Egli has not lost a fight in the FCFF since 2008.
He will face the mega-tough Billy Denney of Eugene, Oregon. Egli became the FCFF Welterweight Champion at Rumble @ The Roseland 57 on May 21st 2011. There he beat Team
Quest's Jason Novelli via tapout due to a rear naked choke. Previous to winning the Title, Egli was on a winning streak with two other round one wins. Most notably Egli had a 25 second choke out at the
"Beavs Vs. Ducks Cage Fights" event in Corvallis, Oregon which earned him the FCFF
"Best Choke of the Year" award in the 2010 Fighter Hall of Fame.
The second Title fight on the Rumble @ The Roseland 59 Fight Card is in the 125-pound Flyweight division. The current FCFF 125-pound Title holder: David Converse of Vancouver, Washington will lay it all on the line to face Alex Corrales of Bend, Oregon. Converse just earned the FCFF Flyweight belt at Rumble @ the Roseland 58 on July 16th 2011. He faced Shaun Nance and within one minute and 28 seconds of round number one Converse ended the fight due to armbar and took home the Title. Alex Corrales has been steadily improving and rising through the ranks with one thing on his mind, the FCFF belt.
Corrales' previous FCFF fights include a win at Rumble at the Roseland 58 on July 16th and a convincing 58 second, round one tap out victory over Marc Harris due to guillotine choke at Rumble @ The Roseland 57.
At Rumble 59 a record will be made before any actions begins. There are two female fights on the card AND one is within the record setting 225-pound division. Team
Quest's Hillary VanOrnum will face Danae Castle breaking the FCFF's highest weight division for
females' record by 50 pounds (just set at Caged on the Coast 5 in August 2011 by Paige Grider of 175-pounds).
"These girls at 225 pounds are going to stun the crowd, it's going to be a fight people talk about for a long
time," said Kevin Keeney FCFF Owner.
The Rumble @ The Roseland 59 fight card brings Northwest MMA rising stars from around the region to Portland, Oregon. All fights will take place in the 25-foot steel cage known to fight fans as
"The Slammer," at the Roseland Theater starting at 7pm. The FCFF is
