Rumble at the Roseland 58 features 225 lb female fight July 16th

Press Releases from The Full Contact Fighting Federation

225-pound female fight will set FCFF record on July 16th

On Saturday, July 16th the Full Contact Fighting Federation is back in Portland, Oregon to host the 58th installment of Rumble @ The Roseland. All fights will take place in the 25-foot steel cage known to fight fans as "The Slammer," at the Roseland Theater starting at 7pm. The FCFF is Oregon's oldest and most respected cage fighting organization, often called the National "golden gloves" of mixed martial arts (mma). At Rumble @ The Roseland 58 there will be two Championship fights in the 125-pound and 145 divisions, plus two female fights and many key match-ups. Tickets available at www.ticketswest.com, safeway tickets west locations or at the door.

An FCFF record will be set on Saturday, July 16th before any action begins, with the female fight between Team Quest's Hillary VanOrnum and Impact Jiu-Jitsu's Danae Dorn. "This fight will be in the highest weight class division ever [for a female fight] in FCFF history. Hillary and Danae are seventy pounds above the last heaviest women's fight at Caged on the Coast 2. There, Paige Grinder fought at 155-pounds," said FCFF owner and matchmaker Kevin Keeney, "these girls at 225 pounds are going to stun the crowd, it's going to be a fight people talk about for a long time."

     Danae Dorn                                              Hillary VanOrnum

While this will be VanOrnum and Dorn's debut into mma competition, they are no strangers to sports. Hillary VanOrnum is a former Division I basketball player and has been training in mma for about 4 years. Over the last two years, she has trained at the world-renowned fight club: Team Quest. VanOrnum competed in two major Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournaments in 2011. She competed in the Abu Dhabi World Pro Trials and took home Gold in the blue belt heavyweight and earned third in the blue belt absolute division. In June of 2011, she went to the World Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships and got fifth place. At Worlds, she beat the current Brazilian National Champion, the current Blue Belt Lightweight World Champion and European Champion (blue belt). With a supportive husband and brother, VanOrnum plans to earn her black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, compete at the Major BJJ and Judo tournaments, and fight as a pro mma fighter. The biggest obstacle for Dorn and VanOrnum is finding opponents in their weight divisions. "We have been looking for a MMA fight for me for almost a year," said VanOrnum.

"Expect to see action in this fight, I've heard from their trainers that they are both exceptionally strong," said Keeney. There are four female fighters in total on the Rumble @ The Roseland 58 Fight Card. In addition to VanOrnum and Dorn, two 125-pound fighters will face off: Cinthia Aguirre of Portland, Oregon and Emily Corso. Corso has been training under Nick Gilardi at Alive MMA in Portland, Oregon for almost two years and holds an undefeated mma record of 2-0. Cinthia "Judith" Aguirre, a 19-year-old kickboxer from Portland will be making her mma debut and is looking to make a name for herself in 2011.

Only a few weeks ago in June of 2011 Emily Corso fought Chelsea Reynosa in Vancouver, Washington and earned the title of "Submission of the Night" for a quick 30 second armbar in the first round. Corso has plans to compete in boxing and mma in the future, "I plan to fight again at the end of July whether I win or lose," she said. Originally from Sitka, Alaska she currently works in non-profit development and holds a liberal arts degree. Her family is supportive, but her mom watched her first fight cringing and exclaiming, "You didn't tell me there was face-hitting," said Corso jokingly.
