Portland,
OR - The Full Contact Fighting Federation held its 55th Rumble at The Roseland this past weekend showcasing 3 amateur title bouts and some great match-ups that had fight of the night written all over
'em. As usual there were some big name pro fighters on hand to watch their
team's up and comers throw leather, such as Bellator's newly signed DJ Linderman, UFC fighter and Team Quest prodigy Ian
"The Barn Owl" Loveland. NW fan favorite UFC fighter Chael Sonnen was
also there with all smiles, greeting fans and supporting his teammates of Team Quest.
The show started with controversy, having the first couple fights end in Medical Stoppage and disqualification. The crowd seemed restless and nothing could calm them until Arsenal fighter Josh
"Big Country" McPherson came out and threw a head kick that dropped opponent Nick Butler in 6 seconds and had the crowd going nuts.
I'm telling you now if you didn't see this, go buy the DVD and check it
out. WOW! Picture perfect head kick KO that gave Big Country the W.
In a great match up, Alex Corrales from Victor Fight Team out of Bend OR, took on Journey Newson from Impact
Jiu Jitsu. From the start this was Journey's fight as he controlled the fight,
while Alex looked for the KO. Journey was able to ride the rounds and secure the Unanimous Decision win.
Ben Richards came in a high school wrestling coach and left a MMA cage fighter after destroying Team
Quest's Brad Hannah in an absolutely picture perfect clinic on wrestling.
Richards made Hannah tap at 1:54 of Rd 1 by Rear Naked Choke.
Newcomer but definitely not a new comer to MMA, Brave legion fighter Tommy Takamoto scored a win over Jeston Arnold by TKO due to strikes at :33 of the second round. Chris DeLaRocha also got a win
in under :40 by beating seasoned veteran Rico Martinez by TKO due to
ref stop
in Rd 1.
Oregon Combat Sports fighter Shaun Nance took Arsenal fighter John Heilman to his limits with his relentless takedown and abuse. Nance defended any hope of offense from
Heilman, but Heilman seemed to be hanging in there until his coach
threw in the towel which seemed to surprise everyone including
Heilman who was yelling at his coach for doing so.
Touch Em Up fighter Chris Perrin was in trouble quick in the FCFF
170 lb Championship fight. His opponent Jeremy Jones almost sunk a RNC but the bell saved
Perrin. Then Bam! Once they came out, Perrin grabbed a standing
D'arce choke and the second he rolled, it was over, and a new champion was crowned.
Last but not least, without any drama we would never have any good TV shows, well same for fights. Jake Morris from Team Quest came out and took it to 503
WCJJ's Clint Patterson. Patterson stayed in the fight by always scrambling and looking to attack, but it was Morris who scored more points and in the end won the unanimous
decision.
The fight originally was for the vacant 155 lb Championship title
but Morris came in over weight so he didn't leave with the belt,
just a W.
The FCFF will next head to the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln
City for Caged on the Coast 4 on March 26th. They return to the
Roseland Theater on April 23rd for Rumble at the Roseland 56. More
