Portland,
OR - UFC fighter Chael Sonnen's Full Contact Fight Federation held its 46th Rumble at the Roseland show. Fans packed in the Roseland Theater in downtown Portland for a great night of amateur MMA action. The main event pitted Team Quest fighter
"Malibu" Jake Morris in a rematch against Mario "The Beast" Rossi. Morris defeated Rossi in their first meeting and came out and got the win again by RNC in quick fashion. The Malibu kid needed only 1:32 seconds to finish
Mr. Rossi, after mounting taking the back and sinking the Rear Naked Choke to earn the FCFF 155 lb title.
Fighters Denny Linton and Blane Nuttall met in the co-main event super fight. Linton opened with a superman that misses and lands a left right combo, after that it was all Nuttall. The Team Quest fighter took the fight to the ground and worked from
Linton's guard and landing punches inside his guard. Round two saw
Nuttall
open up with nice kicks to body and head.
Linton goes for
a takedown and Nuttall gets a point deducted for grabbing the fence, yet it
didn't make it to the judges as Nuttall switches from Kimura to
Armbar and gets the tap at 1:52 of round two.
Team Quest stole the show going 7-1 for the night. Fighter Tommy Leisman won a unanimous decision victory over Armstrong MMA fighter Max Lenoir using Quest patented Ground & Pound. Lenoir
landed clean strikes and looked good but couldn't control the takedowns or ground and the judges gave it to Leisman 30-27. Quest fighters Justin Walls & Damon Wood both got wins by Rear Naked Choke, with Walls defeating Darel Cavan at 1:43, and Wood defeating Jesse Filan from DFCC
with only 2 seconds left; both in the first round. Quest teammate Buzz Alderman had an explosive first round against crowd favorite Lance Ford from Hands Up Fight Team in Washington. So much so that Ford
couldn't answer the bell in the second round declaring Alderman the
winner. Ford nose was broken and he couldn't continue. Ford got a couple good takedowns but
couldn't keep Alderman down and was getting picked apart on the feet with great combinations and kicks that kept Ford looking to shoot.
Another up and comer from the legendary Quest camp is middleweight fighter Nathan Allen. Allen took on a game Joe-Kyle Werner from the TSN fight team. Allen was too much for Werner staying on the outside using his reach and forcing Werner to chase and open up himself for counter punches and leg kicks. Allen was game on the ground as well, reversing Werner after getting taken down, and threatening with submissions. Allen used a slick reversal to gain Werner's back and then mount. Nathan pounded away forcing the referee to call the fight at 1:05 of the third round.
Female fighter Hadley Griffith from Tacoma Washington stepped up on a
week's notice to face Glena Avila from The Dalles, Oregon in a 130lb amateur bout. Avila, knowing
Griffith's Muay Thai skills, shot instantly and looks to finish a head and arm choke, but gets reversed. Quickly after Glena gets a reversal of her own, she traps
Hadley's arm and lands some sick GNP forcing referee Dave Hagen to stop the fight at 1:17 of round one.
Fighters "Pretty Boy" John Alden, from TSN Fight Team, and Matt LaRocque, from DFCC, both sunk
RNC's in under a minute. Alden finished Aaron Katter in 56 seconds and LaRocque took one second more finishing Ben Steele and both fights ended in the first round. Sean Murphy defeated Donavan Pelaske by
referee stoppage due to strikes at 22 seconds of the third round. A big right hand to takedown was the nail in the coffin for Donavan, only a couple more punches on the ground and the referee had seen enough. Donavan had to be helped up due to pure exhaustion.
Others:
Mark Groom defeated Jonathon Wilson by Ref stop :34 Round 1
Josh Hitsman defeated Jake Richmond (TQ) by RNC 1:25 round one
Justin Hill won Split decision against Jeston Arnold
Rumble At The Roseland 47 is scheduled for November 7th.
