Portland,
OR - On Saturday, December 6th some of the top MMA fighters from the best area gyms will enter the 25-foot steel cage, known to fight fans as
"The Slammer" at Rumble @ The Roseland 40. Tom Matijacic of SBGi will take on Pro Escobedo of Impact JJ for the Light Heavyweight Championship belt, and Brother Kress Matijacic of SBGi will take on Crae Bassett of Reality Combat for the 185-pound Title. And, Hamilton Ash of SBGi will take on Andy Pickett from Team Chaos for the 155 pound title.
The Rumble event is hosted by Portland's Full Contact Fighting Federation, and has been described as the premier amateur mixed martial arts (MMA) event in the Nation. The event is co-owned by the world-renowned WEC Middleweight fighter, Chael Sonnen and Kevin Keeney, the FCFF fight matchmaker. The Rumble 40 event will be a high-octane night of caged MMA fights, with three Title Bouts, long awaited match-ups, and two female fights on the card!
In the Main Event, for the FCFF Light Heavyweight Championship, former Champion and undefeated Tom Matijacic of Straight Blast Gym will take on current Champion and undefeated Pro Escobedo of Impact Jiu-Jitsu. Matijacic, built like a modern day Hercules, relinquished his belt just over a year ago, when he decided to pursue a professional career in MMA. However, after 12 months without a fight, Tom has decided to get back in the FCFF cage and win his title back before he makes the permanent jump to the pros. Pro Escobedo has other plans for his belt and looks to keep his perfect record intact as he eyes a professional career, himself. This has all the makings to be the best fight in FCFF history. Don't miss it... and don't blink!
In the Middleweight division, Crae Bassett will fight Kress Matijacic of Straight Blast Gym, and brother of Tom Matijacic. Crae and Kress will be fighting for the vacant FCFF Middleweight Championship. Crae, a FCFF veteran with a record of 8 wins and 3 loses, faces the challenge of not knowing his opponent. This will be Kress's first time fighting with the FCFF, but has a solid reputation in the MMA world and is part of the dominating Straight Blast Gym. Fight fans might find it a bit unorthodox to allow a new FCFF fighter a chance at the Title, but we assure you, his skills and abilities are above par. In fact, the FCFF as attempted many times to get him fights, but his opponents always mysteriously back out. UFC superstars such as Randy Couture, Dan Henderson and Chris Leben have the utmost respect for Kress's abilities. This will be a very interesting bout as we see how Kress handles the pressure of
"THE SLAMMER" and the Roseland crowd... and Crae Bassett!
In the Lightweight Division, Hamilton Ash of Straight Blast Gym will fight Andy Pickett of Team Chaos for the vacant FCFF Lightweight Championship Belt. Ash, known as
"Scrambleton" due to his non-stop action in his fights, is always a fan favorite. Pickett has not fought in the FCFF for over a year but his 6 wins and 2 loss MMA record has earned him the title opportunity against Ash.
