Portland, OR - Rumble 35 started off with a bang! First, the very beautiful FCFF Dancers warmed up the crowd for the 15 bout fight card. The night of fights started with Team Quest's Keoki Badiang vs. Cory Roska (SBGi) in the 135 lbs division. I sat with both fights as they taped up and both were ready to rock. Right away Cory went in for a takedown. They got into guard and Keoki went into a rubber guard. They went through a feeling-out session and the Ref Hopi Jenkins stood them up. After they got up it went right back to the ground with a guillotine attempt by Keoki and a sweet sweep by Corey to try a submission attempt: Keoki got it back on their feet. Knees and elbows were flying with Cory again taking it to the ground to end round 1 with a Rear Naked Choke (RNC) attempted that saved Keoki. Round 2 started off with Cory again taking Keoki down they pushed up against the cage and had quite a mess. After that Cory was able to secure Keoki's back and sink in a RNC to end the fight at 1:58 seconds in round 2.

The next fight was a match-up in the 145 lbs with Ted Rose fighting Travis Sue. Sue came into the ring with a country song about a boy named Sue, very nice. They met in the middle, tapped gloves and within 15 seconds Sue had Rose in half guard. He quickly had full mount postured up and started a clinic on ground 'n pound (GNP). After several head and body shots the ref, Hopi stopped the fight at 1:06 seconds in round 1, TKO. This was a debut match for Sue and he was on top of the world.

We step into the next fight with Kelly Whitlock as ref. This bout was in the 155 lbs and its Ben Egli vs. Julian Oglesby. The round started off with inside and outside kicks from Julian, Shortly in, Ben caught a low blow and they were restarted without delay. Both came out banging with jabs and Ben had a wicked takedown, went into full mount, and shoved Julian into the cage added with some GNP. Ben quickly went in for an arm bar with 40 seconds left. Ben lost the arm bar and took a full mount. Julian was seconds away from a TKO and was saved by the bell. Round 2 started of with short jabs from both men and Ben again took down Julian. Ben had this entire fight under his control. He stuck to his game got side mount landed some serious hammer fists and got a verbal submission to end the fight at 1:22 seconds in round 2.

Next we had a quick 155 lb fight between Quinton Daniels (MMA Debut) vs. Ray "The Pit bull" Lewis. The fight immediately went to the ground with The Pitbull in control. Daniels was stuffed up to the cage were Lewis secured full mount with GNP and Kelly Whitlock stoped the fight 1:00 into Round 1, TKO.

The 170 pounders were up next with John Heath vs. Kolankoa Danz (MMA Debut) It started with a wicked high kick from John that missed and caused him to slip. Danz took advantage by taking Johns back. With a quick sweep took Danz back, moved into side control and the Hopi Jenkis stooped the fight 2:05 round 1 from submission.

In the 180 lbs we have Lee Flores (MMA Debut) vs. Dan Kitterman (48 years - young). Round 1 started with a battle for the takedown with Lee being the aggressor. Lee got Kitterman to the ground added some GNP in full guard until time ran out, great defense by Kitterman. Round 2 started out the same way with Lee getting Kitterman on the ground and landing an elbow that cut him open. Dan was able to get up but with several combos by Lee Hopi stopped the fight 2:09 round 2. After the fight the crowed gave Kitterman a standing ovation.

We then went back to the 170 lbs with Carlos Acuna vs Norman Reuter. Round 1 started with a feeling-out process with strikes and kicks that ended in a clinch. Carlos stuffed Norman into his corner and they went into full guard. Carlos postured up with some GNP. The ref called for action with 15 seconds in round 1 and the round ended with Carlos on top. Round 2 started with standing up jabs and both men throwing leg kicks and a few more combos. Carlos and Norman slowed down a bit and there was some boos from the crowd due to lack of action. Next, Carlos threw a 1-2 punch with an overhand right, knocking out Norman with 2:33 in round 2. The ref tackled Carlos to protect the fighter.

The 205 pound division with Jeremy Morse (MMA debut) vs. Santiago Kent. Round 1 started off with a takedown by Kent and he got side control. Kent controlled most of the action in this round. Morse defending with wrist control. He tried to reverse and was stopped by Kent. The ref stood them back up; another huge takedown by Kent with some GNP to end round 1. Round 2 started with the boys banging knee strikes. Morse gets taken down again by Kent. The ref again stood them up and strikes from both men and again Kent takes down Morse to end round 2. Round 3 started on the ground with Kent landing several 1-2 jabs. He took full mount. Morse swept at the end of round 3 to take Kent's back to go for an RNC but it was a little too late and had to go to a decision with Kent being the winner.

The next fight was a heavyweight match between Ryan Cribbs and Zach Folwick. Ryan came out swinging taunting Zach. They locked up with jabs and it ended with a takedown by Ryan who secured side control and got full mount. They went back and forth ending with Zach on top. Round 2 is being controlled by Ryan with Zach trying to stand up but Ryan was doing a good job controlling the pace on the ground. Both men were starting to gasp but Cribbs was able to sink in a rear naked choke to end the fight at 2:00 even in round 2.

Next we got to another heavyweight match with 255 lb Jared Matthews vs 210 lb Jay "The Hitman" Pittman. Jay came out swinging. Jared, being a wrestler, wanted to be on the ground. He secured the takedown and was able to secure a Kimora to end the fight at 1:30.

Another heavyweight bout between 236 lb Brandon "The Killer" Miller vs. Josh Bizjak. Josh came out with a big overhand right. There was a couple sweeps and a guillotine attempt by Miller. They both stood up. Nice jabs by Miller with kicks followed by a big looping right by Josh, then followed by leg kicks and jabs to end round 1. Round 2 started off with Miller taking the head of Josh to end the fight with a guillotine.

We now drop down to the 170 lb category with Jay Schaeffer and Rick Davison. Both men came out swinging, battling for under hook control with knees thrown by Rick and shoulder punches by Jay. Both men were going through a bit of a chess match. Whole round has been a clinch match. The ref finally separated them with 45 seconds left. Jay came in with a superman punch to go back into a clinch to end the round. Round 2 started right where we left off with the men going into a clinch. Rick and Jay were doing some dirty boxing with knees, body blows, upper cuts and elbows from both. This went back and forth until a low blow by Rick with 1 minute left. After a quick break, Rick apologized to Jay. They started off with a spinning high kick and a superman punch to end the round by Jay. Round 3 started with both men throwing jabs. Jay secured take down and had to watch up for the up kicks and dominated the 3rd round. An armbar was attempted by Rick, which Jay escapes, they stood up, clinched, and the round ended going to a unanimous decision for Jay Schaeffer.

Now we go to the Heavyweight Championship with Daniel Stewart vs. Rob Gibbs. Round 1 started with both guys coming out banging. Daniel stopping Rob inside the ring and loading up his right. Round 1 was a feeling-out process and it seemed that Daniel won that round. Round 2 started with strikes. Daniel was very patient to set up and then explode. Gibbs using a lot of energy with not much effect. Daniel started landing jabs and body shots with the ref ending it at 2:13 TKO.

Our last fight was started by an amazing dance routine from the FCFF dancers: Ami, Britney and Courtney. The Title Fight is Classy Nick Stacks vs. Pro Escobedo. Pro had a standing ovation from the upper balcony while chanting his name, "Pro, Pro, Pro" before the fight even started. When the men stepped into the right they were both very serious and the fight started off with a clinch in the red corner. Double under hook control by Nick and both men were throwing knees while the crowd was chanting Pro's name. Round 1 ended with Pro and Nick throwing a combination of knees going into round 2. The next round started with Nick going for a takedown. It was a very even fight and it might have gone to the judges. A big take down by Pro to go into full mount and then took the back of Nick but he got out of it. Stacks started throwing upper cuts and got a cut under the left eye of Pro and another big upper cut by Nick. Pro is gassing out a bit as we head toward the 3rd round.

Round 3 started with Nick coming out with some combos. Pro answered with a left and a right. Nick clinched up for defense and both men started throwing knees. Another huge takedown by Pro took side control and started dropping body shots. With one minute left Pro stood it up and started landing upper cuts and jabs from both men. The fight ended with both men in a clinch and it went to the scorecards. Unanimous decision: Pro.
