The Peninsula Throwdown 6 had an interesting start to their event on Saturday, June 28th in Tacoma - at 2pm the area was flooded by a terrible downpour, looking like the outdoor event wouldn't happen. But then the skies cleared up just before the event and stayed dry throughout the 13 fight undercard and six title matches, including the five round Fight of the Night between Jason Gray and Danny Elliott for the 145 lb belt. Gray was aggressive and dominated on the ground, forcing Elliott to work for the breakdown. On the feet Elliott showed his clean and heavy striking was something to be avoided, so Gray continually took Elliott down to the mat where he could use his impressive wrestling skills to work the ground and pound. Elliott stayed in the fight, never giving up and capitalizing on the times both fighters were on their feet, but just couldn't get past Gray's dominance on the ground. The judges unanimously saw the fight as Gray's, awarding him the new Peninsula Throwdown 145 lb championship belt.
Submission of the night came in the 125 lb title fight between Sean Williams and David Buchmann. Both men showed the speed and aggression typical of the flyweight division. But Williams' transitions on the ground were so clean technically that despite Buchmann's impressive defense, he was forced to tap to an armbar that had first started as a triangle, transitioned to an armbar, then a possible omaplata, back to an armbar. Williams' smooth transitions and constant adjustments were just relentless and won him the 125 belt at 1:28 of round one.
Althought there were no knockouts, there were an impressive 8 TKO's and among these, it was the 170lb title fight between Dominique Smith and Jeff Rodriguez that stood out. Smith is well known for his aggression and setting an intense pace in his fights. This fight was no different and it quickly found Rodriguez on his side on the mat as Smith began raining down blows - bellowing out as he slammed the punches home and prompting the referee to jump in and put a stop to the bout at 2:38 of Rd 1.
In the 135 lb Title fight, Kyle Cavazos stopped Steven Pederson by TKO at the 1:25 mark of round 1.
Nick Burnham won the Peninsula Throwdown Lightweight belt, finishing Garret Reitz via TKO at 1:47 of the first.
 
The final bout of the event was for the Heavyweight Title and it was Joshua Bonner who came out on top finishing James Roberson with strikes on the ground at 1:38 of round one.
