NW
Promotions & the Academy of Brian Johnson held their
11th NW Fight Challenge on April 23rd at the site of the
former Apex Carting Center in Tumwater, WA. A total of 14
fights went down from the cage, with the last five being
title fights. The
main event was a battle of the champions as NWFC 145lb MMA
Champ, Drew "The Eternal Fire" Brokenshire, took
on NWFC 145lb Superfight Champ Nick Ryan. The fight was an
excellent one that went the distance & in the end it
was Brokenshire who came out on top via judges decision.
Tyler Thompson defended his 135lb MMA title by submitting
Jose Ramirez via armbar with just a second left in the
first round. The 155 lb MMA Championship was also a good
battle that saw Derrick Boddy defeat Aaron Martin by way
of Rear Naked Choke in the 3rd Round. Two kickboxing
titles were also on the line and both went to the judges
scorecards. At 135 lbs, Erick Larson beat Tigran Bagdasryn
after five hard rounds of boxing, and it was KC Kim edging
Brett Lucero via Split Decision.
