Miesha
Tate dominated Sarah Oriza in the Main Event of CageSport
MMA on October 3rd at the Emerald Queen Casino by standing
and throwing hard leather throughout the first round, and
then turning it up a notch in the 2nd by taking just 8
seconds to take out Oriza for the victory. After
the fight, Tate spoke with NW Fightscene about the win and
more...
NW
Fightscene: We're talking with Miesha Tate after her fight. You're
"Takedown" Tate but it looks like you were going in there to stand up the whole time.
Miesha Tate: I was. I knew that she was a ground fighter and I figured this was a good a time as any time to work my hands. I've been working them a lot. I went down to California and did a three week training camp. I've been working my standup a lot. Like
I said, I want to be more well rounded. I hope I showed that today. Anybody that has any doubts about my standup I hope they see that
I'm a well-rounded fighter.
NWFS: You've been talking about moving down to California. I know you've been training down there. Is that move for certain or are you guys still mulling it over?
Tate: Definitely its something we want to do. It just a matter of funding. Finding a place
that's affordable to live. Its kind of hard of making the way of just fighting which you know is a dream of mine so
sometimes there's sacrifices. They're well worth it. But yeah its something
that's definitely in the works and winning this fight is going to help fund my trip down there.
NWFS: What's
next? Do you have anything lined up?
Tate: Strikeforce told me that there going
to be putting me sometime like around December. It's what I
'm looking at for them so I think that's what's next for me. If
I can squeeze in another fight maybe to defend my 135 lb Freestyle Cage Fighting belt before than
I would love to do that as well.
NWFS: Who do you want to thank?
Tate: Just everybody. All my family and friends who are here to support me. My sponsors
Tussle Fight Gear. They drove up from Oregon to support me in this fight. I'm wearing all their gear right now. And Projekt Label and Fight University. Those are some of the main sponsors that
I'd just like to give a big thank you because they've always been so supportive.
