On
Friday June 10th, the Midtown Throwdown will take place
inside the Lane Events Center at the Lane County
Fairgrounds in Eugene, OR. The doors open at 7 PM and is
an all-ages event. More info available at midtownmma.com.
This
pro/am show will have Midtown MMA fighter Levi Kurtovich
take on Donnie Evenson out of NW Training Center in the
main event. The Co-main Event will have Midtown MMA
fighter Shorty Weikel versus Dogpound MMA fighter Denny
Linton. Spaniard spoke with Kurtovich, Weikel, and Linton
two days before the show and the interviews are below...
PRE-FIGHT
INTERVIEW WITH LEVI KURTOVICH
"Training's
been really good... I've been working a lot with Brent
Primus who is at NW Martial Arts and Ben Baxter who
teaches jiu-jitsu over here [at Midtown MMA] so I've had
some good partners, and had some good training leading up
to this fight."
"I
go into every fight training to end it everywhere. So
wherever the fight goes, I'll be prepared to be there and
look for the finish there. Whether I finish on the ground
or whether I finish on the feet, doesn't matter. Wherever
he wants to take it, I'm glad to go there."
"Being
the main event is definitely exciting. I feel like me and
Donnie both deserve to be the main event. I feel we'll put
on a great show and the fans will be happy."
"..Fight
day its getting [my] game face on, focus, and go in there
and get it done."

PRE-FIGHT
INTERVIEW WITH DENNY LINTON
"Shorty's
a tough opponent and that's what I look for in my fights.
I like to fight the best and challenge myself, and better
myself in MMA."
"I'm
pretty sure I got better wrestling skills than Shorty as
far as my credentials. I was a three time state champion
wrestler, and I wrestled all through middle school and
high school and everything. That was my number one.
Wrestling's in my bag."
"I
got some tough training partners. We've been sparring.
Getting really into it. Throwing a lot of punches. Hoping
to keep it on the feet and put him out."
"I'm
the guy who just goes in there and gets the job done...
I'm going to keep it on the feet and see how it goes from
there. I'm pretty confident in my standup and my wrestling
too. So either way it goes, I'm going to do my best and
hope to come out on top."

PRE-FIGHT
INTERVIEW WITH SHORTY "THE PITBULL" WEIKEL
\
"..I
don't think he's as good as he thinks he is and I'm ready
to prove it to him.
"Ground's
my game, [but] I've been working on my hands and my hands
are phenomenal now."
"Wrestling
is great if we were in a wrestling match. We are not in a
wrestling match. This is jiu-jitsu and MMA. Wrestling is
all good and dandy for him, he may have been a state
wrestling champion back in the day, but that does not help
you when you step into the cage. You got to know what
you're doing."
"I
think I'm going to knock him out on the feet.. I'm going
to try and keep it standing with him, but if it goes to
the ground I think its going to be a pretty quick ending
for Denny.
