King of the Cage made their first ever stop at the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City OR on March 21st. Despite a somewhat truncated card, the casino was packed with fight fans and they got to witness some intense MMA fight action in the 4 pro and 2 amateur bouts that took place. In the main event, a good scrap between pro heavyweights Anthony McDonald and Chris Folsom was halted early when an inadvertant eye poke from McDonald caused Folsom not to be able to see and the cageside doctor stopped the fight. The but was ruled a No-contest. In the co-main event, Rose CIty FC's Ben Egli moved to 5-0 as pro with a 1st round rear naked choke of Adam Walkemeyer. Egli's teammate Ricky Simon also moved to 5-0 as pro with a hard-fought 3 round decision win over Paul Njoku in a bout that was entertaining and competitive throughout. Fight of the night belonged to Chad Mertens and Julian Wallace in the pro 145 lb division, with both fighters leaving everything they had in the cage. After 3 rounds of war, Mertens was declared the winner by split decision 29-28, 29-28, 28-29. King of the Cage will be back at the Chinook Winds Casino on June 27th.
