Amy Montenegro en route to a 2nd route TKO win in the Co-main Event

On November 13th, King of the Cage made their last visit in 2014 to the Coeur d'Alene Casino with a show dubbed "Tactical Strike". Despite a number of fights and fighters dropping of the card leading up to the event, the KOTC matchmaker still was able to put together a compelling lineup of 1 amateur and 6 professional bouts. In the main event, local favorite Trevor Prangley retained his King of the Cage Light Heavyweight Title yet again, this time putting in quick work against late replacement Richard Blake from California. Blake wanted to keep it standing but Prangley took him to the mat and once on the ground worked into a position to secure a fight ending arm triangle choke at 2:06 of the first.

In the co-main event, Amy "Resurrection" Montenegro of Seattle squared off with Diane "Dynamite" Rael fighitng out of Colorado in a 115 lb contest. When the fight was on the feet, it looked relatively even, but it didn't stay there long with Montenegro getting the takedown and then going to work on the ground punishing Rael with elbows and punches. In the first round, she switched from strking to going for a RNC finish, not geting it as Rael defended. In the 2nd, Montenegro again got the takedown and this time was relentless with her ground and pound until referee Herb Dean put an end to the fight at the 2:54 mark. Montenegro moves to 5-1 with the win and afterwards it was announced that Montenegro will get a shot at the King of the Cage Strawweight Title against another "Dynamite" fighter, Danielle "Dynamite" Taylor, at the next KOTC event at the Coeur d'Alene Casino next February.

"Iron" WIll Noland, fighting out of Trevor Prangley's AKA, picked up his 4th straight win over a game opponent in Nate Cook by way of a 2nd round arm triangle choke. Both fighters displayed some good standup but once Noland took it to the ground early in the 2nd round, he quickly secured the submission.

22 year-old Jacob "The Darkness" Harkness got back on the winning track with a TKO win over Chris Ensley. The bout was spent mostly on the mat with Harkenss controlling the action going for submissions and mixing it up with big elbow strikes that opened up a nasty cut on Ensley's face, finally getting the TKO ref stop at 2:35 of the first round. Harkness now has a professional record of 7-3.

In a pro 195 lb catchweight bout that saw a lot of back-and-forth action, Missoula Montana fighter Jason "Tha Savage" Zentgraf came out the winner with a 3rd round guillotine choke of AKA's Jordan Currie. Zentgraf, who had not competed in more than a year, moves to 8-2 as a pro while Currie falls to 5-3.

In the night's first pro bout, Spokane's Adam Smith scored a submission win over Seattle's Frankie "The Battle Goat" Orr when the fight went to the ground and Smith locked on a phantom choke that put Orr to sleep at 2:21 of the first. With the win, Smith moves to 7-3 as a pro.

Opening the fights was the only amateur bout of the evening, and it was AKA's Zane Douglass matching up with Jesse Jacobsen in a 140 lb catch weight bout. The two had met at a previous KOTC event early this year with Douglass getting a rear naked choke win midway through the first round. This time it took Douglass less than a minute to get Jacobsen on the ground and secure the choke for the win at the 59 second mark.

King of the Cage will be back at the Coeur d'Alene Casino on Feb 12th 2015.
