Trevor Prangley and Mike Hayes fought to a draw in the main event
King of the Cage returned to the Coeur d'Alene Casino in Worley, Idaho on June 4th with a show dubbed "Awakening", featuring 7 pro and 2 amateur MMA fights. The main event saw a late change as King of the Cage 205 lb Champion Trevor Prangley's original opponent, DJ Linderman, was forced to pull out of their title fight due to injury. White Buffalo Warrior fighter Mike "300" Hayes then stepped in to take on Prangley in a 3-round heavyweight contest. The pair battled hard over 15 minutes, going the distance, with one judge seeing it for Prangley 29-28, one calling it 29-28 for Hayes, and the third judge seeing it even at 28-28 for a Split Draw. Afterwards, Trevor Prangley - a veteran of over 45 professional fights in such organizations as the UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, and King of the Cage - officially announced his retirement from fighting, going out on top as KOTC Champion. Prangley will continue as head of his AKA academy in Coeur d'Alene, passing on his wealth of experience to the next generation of fighters.
The Co-main Event featured Mamba MMA's Susy Watson and Team Execution's Jenny Liou Shriver squaring off in the women's 125 lb division. The fight was a rematch with Liou Shriver winning their first meeting last December in Tacoma via unanimous decision. This time though it was Watson who came out victorious with referee Cecil Peoples stopping the contest due to strikes on the ground at 1:13 of round 3.
Portland's Ryan Walker entered enemy territory and took home a split decision win over Spokane's Jacob Harkenss in a hard-fought pro welterweight matchup. Walker has won 4 straight after losing his pro debut in 2014.
In an entertaining pro 150 lb catchweight bout, Team Execution's Mark Coates submitted Dustin Winter via rear naked choke at 2:59 of round 2.
Warrior Camp's Jake Jokela moved to 3-0 as a pro by stopping Tracy O'Brien with strikes on the ground at 2:59 of round one in a 170 lb contest..
At 155 lbs, AKA's Travis Smith picked up his first pro win by eliciting a verbal tap from his opponent Phil Shriver at 1:13 of round one due to Smith's punishing attack.
The night's first professional contest took place at bantamweight and it was AKA's Zane Douglass who took home his first pro win with a guillotine choke of Luis Gomez at the 1:03 mark of round one.
In the amateur female 125 lb division, Tayler Pecha took home a unanimous decision over Kayla Green with all 3 judges seeing it 30-27.
