Matt Hume's Genesis Fights presented
"Coup d'état" on Sept 10th with an evening of 10 amateur bouts
of MMA, kickboxing, & a tag team grappling match.
Former Genesis Fights champion and current UFC
bantamweight #1 contender, Demetrious "Mighty
Mouse" Johnson, was in the house and gave away a
Microsoft Xbox to a lucky fan. Johnson will be fighting for the UFC
135 lb title October 1st when he takes on current champ
Dominick Cruz at UFC Live in Washington DC... Pray4Japan.Org,
a nonprofit organization supporting victims of the Japan
Earthquake, was also on hand selling shirts and taking
donations to support the ongoing disaster relief effort
there.
In
the main event, Genesis Fights Heavyweight Champion Brent
"Mankill" Knopp, fighting out of AMC, successfully
defended his title via a unanimous decision over Rude
Awakening's Jourdain White.
The
co-main event was for the 155 lb title and it was AMC's
Anthony Matney scoring an impressive unanimous decision
win over Rude Awakening's Neal Anderson. Afterwards,
Matney was presented with the belt by former Genesis
Fights 155 lb champ and current Strikeforce fighter, Caros
"The Future" Fodor.
In
a Featherweight Superfight, AMC's Drew "The Eternal
Fire" Brokenshire looked sharp throughout in a
five-round slugfest with Marcus "Showtime"
Enriquez and in the end, all three judges gave it to
Brokenshire for the unanimous decision win.
