incomparable dynamic duo of Ron "The Yacman"
Yacovetti and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Maurice

The
185 lb main event saw Mario Miranda in his first fight
back after a 1-3 run in the UFC, with tough decision
losses in his last two starts to Demian Maia and Aaron
Simpson. In this fight, Miranda was facing undefeated
Jason Zentgraf, fighting out of the Great Northern Fight
Club in Missoula MT. The fight started with the pair
feeling each other out, but it was Miranda making the
first move by quickly closing distance and getting
Zentgraf into the clinch where he executed a nice hip toss
and then started working his ground game. The fight made
it back to the feet and it was Zentgraf sneaking through a
right hook that stunned Miranda and put him on the
defensive. Miranda quickly recovered however and clinched
up again with Zentgraf and took him down for more GNP.
Zentgraf locked on an armbar but Miranda escaped by simply
picking Zentgraf up and slamming him to the mat in crowd
pleasing fashion. The 2nd and 3rd rounds played out
similarly. Miranda was the master in terms of clinching
and cage control, frustrating Zentgraf who was unable to
mount any sustained offensive attack. After fifteen
minutes, the fight went to the scorecards and the
unanimous decision to Miranda, with two judges giving all
three rounds to Miranda, and the thirds seeing it 29-28.
Miranda moves to 11-3 with the win while Zentgraf's first
loss puts his record at 5-1.
The
co-main event featured a pair of pro lightweights battling
it out in Team Redline's Craig Jackson versus Dustin Praxedes
fighting with Full Circle MMA. Jackson was able to get a
takedown early but Praxades popped right back up again and
was able to land a knee to the body as the pair clinched
against the cage. Jackson grabbed a leg and
eventually steered Praxades to the ground. There, Jackson
capitalized on the opportunity for a rare submission in
the calf crusher at 1:26 of round one.
In
a pro 145 lb contest, Sam Sicilia out of Sikjitsu clinched
up quickly with Dominic Rivera, rode him to the mat,
rained down a few punches, took the back and eventually
sunk the choke for a textbook win. The busy Sicilia moves
to 7-1 as a pro, getting three wins in the last month
alone.
At 155 lbs,
pro Jeff Hatton would not be denied, shooting quickly for
a takedown of an undefeated Damen Wood and working some
ground and pound against the cage. The fight was stood up
as the ref determined Hatton was holding the fence. The
respite was of no avail to Wood as Hatton repeated the
takedown on the restart and eventually got the back and
Rear Naked Choke win at just under 2 minutes of the first
round.
