Fabiano
Scherner, MMA fighter out of Team Quest, has taken on such
big name fighters such as Roy Nelson, Gilbert Yvel, Gabriel Gonzaga, and Brandon Vera compiling
a professional MMA record of 8-8 in venues like the UFC, IFL, Sportfight, Cage Rage, Hook N Shoot, and many more.
You could say "Pege-Leve", who was born in Brazil in 1972, has been around the block.
But
that's not even the half of it. "Big Fab" is
also a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and has won numerous titles on the mat
and in BJJ tournaments, earning him the bragging rights that go along with the belt that hold up his Gi pants. Scherner is a six time
BJJ World Champion but he hadn't stepped onto a competition mat
for a long-time, since 2002. But that all changed recently
when he drove to California and took home Two Gold Medals & One Bronze in both the United States Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Federation National Championships (USBJJF) &
the Abu Dhabi Try-outs. A few days after the competions, Scherner spoke to NWFS
from inside Team Quest about his matches and on how happy he was with his success after such a long lay-off in BJJ competition. He
talked about how he takes pride in his partnership with Team Quest and
he credits his learning take-downs there in helping him
win the number one spots and the gold.
Many
thanks to Fabiano for taking the time to speak with NW
Fightscene. He isn't
resting on his laurels with his recent BJJ success, as he is now training for
the No-Gi Worlds happening November 5 in Long Beach CA,
and for which NWFS wishes him the best of luck. For more info on Fabiano and Team Quest,
