Matt Coble submits Colby Hoffman in the main event

Combat Games MMA presented Battle @ the Bay IV on July 20th at the Swinomish Casino in Anacortes, holding 3 pro and 8 amateur fights. In the main event, Matt "Livewire" Coble (Livewire MMA) and Colby Hoffman (Bad Company MMA) matched up in a pro lightweight contest that had the fans off their seats. Hoffman got an early takedown and looked to do damage from the top. Coble though looked to end it with a couple dangerous armbar attempts from bottom. Hoffman was able to escape both times and the round ended with the pair trading punches and kicks on the feet.

In the 2nd, Coble came out firing and Hoffman answered with shots of his own. After a good exchange, Coble was all smiles and went to work, getting Hoffman in a muay thai clinch and pushing him up against the cage with big knees. Hoffman tried to respond with knees to the body, but Coble had his number, landing numerous hard punches, elbow strikes, and knees for a solid two minutes against the cage before Hoffman finally fell to the mat. From there, Coble landed more strikes, took his back, and sunk the rear naked choke for the win at 3:14 of the round.

At 145 lbs, C3's Jonny "Cage" Gilbertson went to 2-0 as a pro with a win over Sikjitsu's Jordan Mackin. After a brief exchange, Mackin clinched up with Gilbertson and the pair traded knees to the body, before breaking free. After another brief exchange on the feet, Mackin scored the takedown. Gilbertson tied him up on bottom though and Mackin was unable to get free to do damage. Gilbertson locked in a triangle and then threw up a series of rapid elbow strikes that were too much for Mackin, getting the tap at 2:37 of the first round.

COGA MMA's Tom "The Gun" Wilson won his pro debut over American Combat Academy's Gary Winslow in a 155 lb bout. The fight started out as a standup battle with Winslow having the slight edge. Both fighters showed patience and as the round progressed, Wilson started to find range. He then rushed Winslow with a flurry and drove him into the cage, wrapped up his legs and got the takedown. The fight went back to the feet again and when Wilson threw a leg kick, Winslow drove in for a takedown of his own. Wilson though sprawled well, winding up on Winslow's back where he sunk in the choke and finished at 3:15 of the 1st.

In amateur action, Crisis MMA's Nick Burnham utilized takedowns and solid wrestling to stifle CSF's Albert Tadevosyan offensive attack and take home a unanimous decision in a 155 lb matchup.

At 125 lbs, Livewire MMA's Duncan Vance won a unanimous decision over Bellingham MMA's Hunter Clagett.

ACA's Mike Redberg submitted BMMA's Drew Oetgen with a 2nd round RNC in a 145lb contest.

In a 190 lb catchweight affair, Livewire MMA's Curtis Hagg escaped a Matt Buckley choke and threw down hard strikes to end the fight 57 seconds in.

At 155 lbs, C3's Brandon Todd got COGA MMA's Patrick Heald on the ground and worked in some punches. When Heald went to stand up, Todd locked on the guillotine, rode him to the mat, and finished at 2:10 of the first.

C3's Danny Thompson finished Livewire MMA's Andrew Park with strikes from the back at 1:48 of the first.

At 205 lbs, Caleb Padgett out of Combat Sport & Fitness looked sharp in finishing AKA's Thomas Hoeper with big bombs at 1:11 of the first.

A spirited 140 lb battle opened the fights with C3's Anthony Mendoza coming out on top over COGA MMA's Michael Ong via split decision.
