Steve
Forbes returns to his home state of Oregon this Friday to
fight in the main event of the "Border War"
event being put on at Spirit Mountain Casino in Grand
Ronde, Oregon. Forbes is the former IBF World Super
Featherweight Champion and last saw action in September of
2008 where he was on the losing end of a 12 round war with
Andre Berto for the WBC Welterweight Title. Forbes also
fought Oscar De La Hoya last year and lost by decision in
a 12 round battle. The 32 year old Portland native
is looking to make another run for a title shot but first
he must first go through 26 year old Jason Davis out of
Vancouver, WA. Davis last fought in November in Tampa,
Florida for the NABA Light Welterweight belt but
unfortunately lost a tough decision to Derrick Samuels.
Davis is the underdog in this fight against Forbes but he
has the requisite skill set that may propel him to victory
and a higher profile in the boxing world.

The
Semi-main event will feature Roger Cantrell out of Seattle
taking on Portland's Robert Brue in a 6 round Light
Heavyweight Battle. Cantrell enters the contest with
a 13 and 1 record, with all his wins coming at Brian
Halquist's Battle At The Boat series in Tacoma's Emerald
Queen Casino. Brue has an undefeated record with 5 wins,
all from around the Northwest this past couple of years.
The undercard will have at 5 additional fights.
The
"Border War" fight event was put together by
Square Ring Inc, the promotions company headed by Eight-time world champion Roy Jones, Jr., considered one of the best fighters of
all-time. The company is looking to establish a regular
boxing series at Spirit Mountain Casino which bodes well
for Northwest fight fans!
Spirit
Mountain Casino will also be hosting the next Sportfight
on Friday April 3rd. Sportfight is the Northwest's Premier
Mixed Martial Arts series, founded by Matt Lindland and
Randy Couture.

GRAND
RONDE, OR - Well known for his impressive 12-round bout with boxing icon Oscar De La Hoya, former International Boxing Federation (IBF) super featherweight champion, Steve Forbes (33-7, 9 KOs), of Portland, takes on hard-charging Jason Davis (11-2-1, 3 KOs), of Vancouver, in a 10-round welterweight main event.
For the first time in seven years, eight-time world champion Roy Jones, Jr., returns to Oregon to promote the seven-fight card through his company, Square Ring, Inc. and is expected to be ringside for all the action. The Forbes vs. Davis battle is only one of three fights on the ticket for the March 6th
"Border War" event, featuring Oregon boxers taking on opponents from Washington.
Forbes, 31, is making his first appearance in Oregon since Nov. 19, 2005 when he stopped Julio Cesar Sanchez Leon in the third round at the Rose Garden. This resilient, hard-hitting fighter has won his last eight matches and is looking for his first world title belt, after losing a grueling 12-round brawl against Andre Berto for the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title on Sept. 27, 2008 in Los Angeles.
Davis, 26, is a rising rival from across the Columbia River who has great skills, balance and is a relentless attacker. He made his pro debut in 2005, and has primarily fought at casinos in Washington.
He'll be making his first ever appearance in Oregon against Forbes and is eager to score a signature win and emerge as the Portland
region's top boxing prospect. In his last outing, he dropped a 10-round decision to Derrick Samuels for the North American Boxing Association U.S. Light Welterweight crown on November 7th.
Other "Border War" match-ups on the card feature Portland's Robert Brue (5-0, 3 KOs) against fellow light heavyweight Roger Cantrell of Tacoma (13-1, 8 KOs), scheduled for six rounds. Two other Portland-based light heavyweights, Kevin Hand (2-0, 2 KOs) and Sam Haynes (5-3, 4 KOs) face off in a four-round tilt. Lightweights Jose Gomes of Kent, WA (1-2, 0 KOs) and Noberto Pantellon of Salem (2-1, 1 KO) go head-to-head in a four-round bout. Marco Canderos, of Salem takes on Manuel Ortega, of Seattle, two featherweights making their pro debuts in a four-rounder. And bantamweight Kieyon Bussey of Pensacola, FL (5-0, 3 KOs) battles Jose Pacheco of Los Angeles, CA (0-5-5) in another four-round fight.
