Halquist Productions presented their 95th card in the long-running Battle at the Boat pro boxing series on March 22nd inside the I-5 Showroom of the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma WA. A large crowd was on hand and treated to an excellent night of pugilistic action with 7 fights going down, including a 10 round title fight in the main event. Famed celebrity and host of KZOK's morning show, Danny Bonaduce, was in the house as the event's master of ceremonies.

The original main event for Battle at the Boat 95 was scratched late but promoter Brian Halquist found a very suitable replacement fight in undefeated rising prospect Stivens Bujaj taking on veteran Victor Barragan for the vacant WBC United States Cruiserweight Title. The opening rounds saw both fighters utilizing their jabs with Bujaj working in body shots. Barragan on a couple occasions got Bujaj in trouble in the corners, but Bujaj was able to escape and counter effectively. As the fight progressed, it was Bujaj who started to wear down Barragan with accurate shots to the body and head. In the 7th round, Bujaj finished the fight with a barrage of shots that dropped Barragan to the canvas. A bloodied Barragan stood up but the referee called the fight before the ten-count was finished, giving Bujaj the WBC belt. WIth the win, the New York-based fighter moves to an impressive 12-0, with 9 of those wins coming by way of knockouts.

The Co-feature was a spirited 4-round battle between featherweights Jeremy McCleary and Corben Page. From the get-go, both fighters moved forward and exchanged at a furious pace, and both landed head shots with effective combinations. Neither was able to finish the other so it went to the scorecards with the end result being 39-37 twice for McCleary and 38-38 even, giving McCleary the majority decision win. McCleary, fighting out of Buckley WA, remains undefeated at 3-0, while Springfield Oregon-based Corben Page falls to 4-9-1.

Early in the fight with Spokane's Juan Carlos Rodriguez, Team Srisuk's Cameron Sevilla-Rivera ate a couple punches and then stepped back smiling. From that point, Sevilla-Rivera started unloading big power punches which Rodriguez could not counter, getting dropped once and finally finished against the ropes with the referee stepping in at the 1:32 mark of the first round. Sevilla-RIvera moves to 3-0 as a pro with all his wins coming from knockouts.

Welterweight Jared Teer, fighting out of the Academy of Brian Johnson, came out on top in a close high-paced matchup with Box-fit Spokane's Sean Quinnett. After 4 rounds of action, it was Teer getting the split decision win 40-36, 39-37, 37-39.

Talented MMA fighter, Harrison "Wolverine" Bevens of the Academy of Brian Johnson, won his pro boxing debut in a 161 lb catchweight bout over Team Damage's Josh Solis. Bevens was patient throughout, working in body and head shots that started taking their toll until Bevens eventually dropped Solis late in the fourth round. Solis beat the ten-count but the referee waved off the fight as Solis was a bit too unsteady, giving Bevens the TKO win at the 2:33 mark.

In 200 lb weight class, 2 fighters making their pro debuts - Jon Jackson of the Academy of Brian Johnson and the Irish Hit Squad's Jared Torgeson - slugged it out for four rounds in an entertaining crowd-pleaser. In the end, two of the three judges saw it for Jackson 40-36, while the third called it even 38-38, giving Jackson the majority decision win.

Pro debut fighter Cole Milani got an early TKO stoppage in the opening bout against Mark Garcia, scoring with some big shots before ending it with a flurry at the 1:30 mark of the first round.

Halquist Productions's next event at the Emerald Queen Casino is the all-pro MMA show CageSport XXX on May 3rd, followed by Battle at the Boat 96 on June 7th. Learn more at Halquistproductions.com.
