Battle At The Boat 72 - LINTON VS. IKEKE

Press Release from Brian Halquist Productions

Battle at the Boat 72
June 20, 2009
7:00 P.M

Emerald Queen Casino

Tacoma's favorite boxer Emmett Linton (33-5-2) will put his career on the line against world title challenger Kingsley Ikeke (24-3) at the Emerald Queen Casino's Battle At The Boat 72. Be there on June 20th, 2009 to witness one of the most exciting fights of the year. Doors will open at 6:00 P.M, first fight starts at 7:00 P.M.
Linton-Ikeke will be an exciting fight from start to finish as it promises to be a fantastic 10 round main event. Ikeke is no stranger to Northwest boxing fans, as he knocked Kenny Ellis out of world title contention at the Battle of Boat 22, in 2003. At the time, Ellis was ranked 3rd in the world by the WBO when he fought Ikeke for the NABO, NABF and NABA titles. Ellis was stopped due to severe cut on the bridge of his nose in the 6th round.

"There's definitely a reason that Kingsley's nickname is Sharpe Knuckles," said promoter Brian Halquist. "Kenny was poised to fight for the WBO world title with a win over Ikeke but it just wasn't meant to be. It was heartbreaking to watch," Halquist continued.

"Linton-Ikeke is a great fight. The winner will be in line for a major fight down the road. There is so much riding on the line for both of these fighters. I expect both fighters to bring there absolute A game. Its situations like these that make for incredible fights. This fight will be a Northwest Classic!" Halquist said.

Both fighters signed for the fight months ago and have been in training camp ever since.

The Undercard will also be featuring some great local prospects:
Portland's Kevin Hand (3-0, 2 KO's) VS Billy Bailey (9-3-1) fighting out of Bakersfield, California in a 6 round semi-main event bout.
Karen Bagmanyan (Pro Debut) VS Portland's Eric Orozco (Pro-Debut)
Seattle's Francisco Reyes (1-0, 1 KO's)
