Battle at the Boat 104 Tonight in Tacoma

Press Release from Halquist Productions

Boxing Series kicks off 2016 Friday at the Emerald Queen Casino

TACOMA, Wash. – Dashon Johnson and Izaak Cardona both appeared fit and ready for their super middleweight main event at Battle at the Boat 104 during Thursday’s weigh-ins at the Emerald Queen Casino.

Johnson (18-19-3, 4 KOs) tipped the scales at 166 pounds, while Cardona (14-3-0, 14 KOs) came in at 167. Johnson and Cardona’s 10-round bout headlines the six-fight card, which takes place Friday at the Tacoma Casino.

Brian Halquist Productions’ Battle at the Boat 104 will have a special start time with doors opening at 7 p.m. and preliminary bouts starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are available through the EQC box office and all Ticket Master Outlets.

Prior to the weigh-ins, Johnson, who served as Manny Pacquiao’s main sparring partner prior to Pacquiao’s historic bout against Floyd Mayweather, was presented the WBA-NABA United States Super Middleweight championship belt – a title he won during his last bout on Nov. 7 when he upset Mike Gavronski by ninth-round TKO.

“The fact that Freddie Roach brought on Dashon to be Pacquiao’s main sparring partner in preparation for his fight against Mayweather is more proof that he is a very special fighter,” promoter Brian Halquist. “His 50/50 record is very deceiving. Dashon is a fighter who is always in shape and will take any fight even with only a 24-hour notice which he has done for us before. Cardona is huge puncher, 14-3, 14 KOs. So, those guys matchup as good as any fight out there. This is going to be a war that the Northwest fight fans will enjoy to start our 2016 season.”

Jeremy McCleary (133 pounds) and Marco Cardenas (132) square off in a super featherweight co-main event.

Additional bouts on the Battle at the Boat 104 card include Rob Diezel (126) and Marcel Gallardo (126); Zach Cooper (147) and Will Fernandez (145.5); Andre Keys (157) and Lexus Pagampao (157); and Isaiah Najera (113.5) and Nestor Hernandez (111.5).
