Bradley, Rex Payne, and the entire Alive MMA crew hosted their 2nd "First Friday Fights" MMA show
Friday, Aug 7th to a packed house at the Elks Lodge in Milwaukie, just
minutes from Downtown Portland. Lots of action with 10 amateur MMA
fights, a women's grappling bout, and a special Grappling
Challenge with UFC-bound Mike Pierce acting as the host taking on all
comers. Pierce, who just recently signed a 4 fight deal with the UFC,
was not submitted by pro fighters Aaron Stark, Matt Horwich, and John
Heath, nor by amateur fighter John Diggans.
(Matt Horwich will take
on all comers at the next Friday Night Fights show in September with
$200 going to whoever can tap him out.)
 
The
Main Event featured the First Friday Fights Heavyweight
Championship and was won by Premier Martial Arts' Jason Pittman when a
cut over opponent Kile Beck's eye caused Ref Dave Hagen to halt the
action and the ringside doctor to subsequently stop the fight. A tough
loss for Alive MMA's Beck but the safety of the fighter always comes
first and in this case it was most definitely warranted. Be on the
lookout for the newly crowned champ Pittman to continue his journey up
the ranks of Northwest Heavyweights. The consensus fight of the night
was a three round war between Alive MMA's Chris Fish and an Independent
Teddy Butcher, the only bout to go to judges scorecards. A unanimous
decision went to Fish but this was a close one throughout and showed the
mettle and heart of both fighters.
 
The
next First Friday Fights event is Friday, September 4th, again at the
Milwaukie Elks Lodge. Based on the success of the promotion's first two
