Milwaukie MMA "First Friday Fights V" - November 6th, 2009

 Alive MMA held their 5th Milwaukie MMA "First Friday Fights" on Nov 6th at the Elks Lodge and once again put together a top notch show showcasing local talent and providing plenty of action for all. 9 MMA and 2 Submission bouts were held as was the "Grappling Challenge", a regular staple of the Alive MMA events with any and all challengers attempting to get a world-class grappler to submit for a prize of $200. Dennis Hallman, Mike Pierce and Matt Horwich, all were featured in past Grappling Challenges, and on this particular evening it was 6 time World BJJ Champ and IFL/UFC/Sportfight vet, Black Belt Heavyweight, Fabiano Scherner taking on 5 different opponents. And as in past Grappling Challenges, not one of them was able to get Scherner to tap.

 

 

In the evening's main event, Arsenal fighter, Elliot Alleman took home the 145 lb Title belt over Alive MMA fighter, Omar Giribay. Alleman came out strong in the 2nd round, getting Giribay down to the ground where he proceeded to rain down punches until Giribay was forced to concede at 2:29.

 

Alive MMA's next fight event will be on Wednesday, Dec 16th at Club Zoo, located at 9310 NE 76th in Vancouver, WA. The gym will also be hosting a grappling tournament & takedown derby Sat, Nov 21st and Sat, Dec 12th at the gym location in SE Portland (5607 SE Woodstock Blvd).
