The 26th AX Fighting Championships was another enjoyable night of amateur action from Aric Wiseman (Alderwood MMA) & Charles Pearson (Charlie's Combat Club (C3)).

This particular evening had 13 bouts including the AX 145 lb MMA Championship for the main event between Chad Douglas (C3) and Jonathon Moore (Full Circle Fight Club). The fighters met one time before, both in their debut amateur fight, in March 2008 at AX 20. On that occasion, Moore took home the victory via a 1st round Guillotine. Since that fight, both have had considerable success on the amateur circuit with Douglas having picked up the Legends MMA 145 lb Title and Moore the Cagewars MMA 145 lb Title. At AX 26, the rematch was on and in a very good fight it was Douglas' night through 5 rounds via solid clinch work in the corners, scoring through takedowns, and firm control on the ground, especially in the later rounds that nullified Moore's standup game. Douglas picks up his 2nd amateur belt and the fans hopefully will see the two square off against each other in the rubber match some time in the future. 

In other action, pro fighter Matt Coble and AX 155 lb champ Ben "Fear the Flatop" Fodor grappled to a draw in a 7 minute submission match that was quite entertaining.

In a bout at 145 lbs, C3's Jonny Gilbertson dropped Victory Athletics' Jason George in the opening salvo of both the 1st round and the 2nd round, both times George being able to survive to the round's end. In the third, Gilbertson finally finished George with a solid leg kick to the midsection that sent George to the canvas for good. 

While tag team submission matches are commonplace at fight events around the region, tag team MMA matches are not, but this may change with an interesting experiment in the genre at AX 26. The rules of engagement allowed punches and kicks to the body, and hand slaps to the face and head, and it was Team El Chucacabra (Chris Garcia & JJ Lopez) beating Team Redneck (Josh Hostetler & Rob Dyer) by a score of 2 submissions to 1.
