ANCHORAGE,
ALASKA - The Alaska Fighting Championship announced the February 10,
2010 7:30pm Main Event Bouts for "AFC 68, Monster vs. Demon" at the George M.
Sullivan Sports Arena.
The main event, features AFC veterans Rob "The Monster" Yundt (fighting out of
Wasilla, Alaska/7-3) vs. Julio "The Dominican Demon" Paulino (fighting out of
Anchorage, Alaska/16-2). Yundt, a world class wrestler will test his abilities against the
stand up skills of Paulino, a boxer turned MMA fighter. With schedule conflicts and
injuries, the match-up has been in the works for over three years. Both are established
fighters. Paulino brings a six fight winning streak that includes a victory over former UFC
veteran Terry Martin in September 2009. Yundt, who caught the attention of the
UFC, made his first of two UFC appearances with a fight against Ricardo Almeida. The fight
will be three (3) five minute rounds in the welterweight division.
World renowned fighter and trainer Matt Hume will be in the corner for his fighters in
another two exceptional match ups. He brings submission specialist Caros Fodor
(fighting out of Seattle, Washington/6-1) to battle undefeated Nate Hannah (fighting out
of Anchorage, Alaska/6-0). All of Fodor's six victories have been through submissions.
Three of Hannah's victories have also been through submissions.
Hume also returns with DJ "Mighty Mouse" Johnson, a 135lb dynamo (fighting out of
Kirkland, Washington/7-0) who doubles as a trainer for AMC Kickboxing and
Pankration in Kirkland, Washington. The undefeated featherweight might be meeting his match on
the ground in wrestler Jesse Brock (fighting out of Boise, Idaho/10-4). Brock, a Wasilla,
Alaska native, has a strong background in wrestling at a collegiate level, having
competed for Boise State with much success.
Alaska Fighting Championship is Alaska's Premier Mixed Martial Arts event. Founded
back in July 2004 AFC 1 had an action packed night with UFC veterans Jeremy Horn
and Rich Franklin both fighting on the card. AFC has come a long way since then,
harvesting its own professional fighters that have moved on to large market venues such
as the UFC. Much like the days of discovering gold in Alaska, the AFC has mined many
a gritty competitor from the ranks of hardy, "Last Frontier" Alaskan men. The reputation
of tough Alaskan men and the harsh elements they train in has attracted global
attention. Alaska Fighting Championship can be seen live every month at the George M.
Sullivan Sports Arena in Anchorage, AK.
