10th Planet Portland had a special night on June 11 as it was the gym's first belt promotion since the gym's opening in August 2010. This was a happy & historic moment for instructor John "Salami", Owner/Operator of 10th Planet PDX. A few of the gym's family and friends were on hand to take snap shots and listen in to the speech given by Salami as he talks about the importance of what it means to become a Blue Belt at 10th Planet PDX and the responsibilities accompanying the honor. The ceremony was followed by a laid back instructional class taught by none other than John himself and the sense of humor and friendship flooded the room as they practiced choking and submitting each other to the music. Students promoted to Blue Belt that night included: Pete Haralabatos, Vladimir Novikov, & Nic McGraw.
